STANFORD, Calif.- Stanford dropped a 3-2 decision at Northeastern on Saturday afternoon, falling to 3-7 on the year with a loss in its first contest of a two-game road trip.
The Huskies improved to 6-4 overall.
The teams alternated goals until the 59th minute, when Jillian Wilkes found the cage following a redirect off a penalty corner that was assisted by Ashley Bascetta.
Stanford was outshot 13-8 and took one less penalty corner at 5-4.
Playing without sophomore offensive threat Camille Gandhi, who is competing for the United States at the Pan American Junior Championships this weekend, the Cardinal attempted just four shots in each period.
Junior Jennifer Luther scored her first goal of the year at the 16:31 mark, taking an assist from senior Hillary Braun to tie the game at 1-1.
Northeastern went ahead 2-1 in the 31st minute, but junior Midori Uehara answered with a goal just after halftime. Uehara, who has six goals on the year and five in her last two games combined, was assisted by sophomore Xanthe Travlos.
In the 59th minute, Wilkes put home the game-winner.
Redshirt freshman Alessandra Moss tallied five saves in goal.
