Stanford Wins Second Straight Over Alabama-Birmingham

Feb. 3, 2008

Stanford, Calif. - Stanford (4-0) defeated Alabama-Birmingham for the second time in as many days and stayed unbeaten on the season with a 22-20 victory over the Blazers during competition in the "A" elements and "B" figures on Sunday at the Avery Aquatic Center. Courtenay Stewart (83.808) was the winner in the "A" elements as Stanford took the first five spots in the event. Christy Park (76.831) took first in the "B" figures with the Cardinal taking four of the top five places.

"The first home competition of the year is always very exciting for our team," said Melissa Knight. "It's the first chance for us to show off what we work so hard on every day to our friends and family, and we definitely get pumped up to compete in front of them. It was really wonderful to have so many people supporting us at our meet this weekend, especially though the bad weather. I think we are all very happy with how the weekend turned out."

Stanford will next return to action February 16-17 with back-to-back meets at Incarnate Word.
