Stockton, Calif. - No. 17 Stanford (10-5) pounded Pacific (5-16) by a score of 14-0 to win the rubber game of a three-game non-conference set between the clubs at Klein Family Field on Monday evening. Stanford's five-run top of the first was plenty of support for Jeffrey Inman and Max Fearnow, who combined to record Stanford's first shutout of the season and limited the Tigers to five hits while striking out 10. Brent Milleville (2-2, 2 HR, 4 RBI) had the first two-homer game of his career to lead a Cardinal offense that rolled up 16 hits.
"It's nice when you play as well as we did tonight," smiled Stanford head coach Mark Marquess after the victory.
Stanford will travel to Sacramento State this Tuesday, March 25 (2 pm, PT) for a final tune-up prior to the start of Pac-10 action. The Cardinal will welcome Washington State to Klein Field at Sunken Diamond for its first Pac-10 series of the season this Friday-Sunday, March 28-30 (6 pm, 1 pm, 1 pm, PT).
