Seattle, Wash. - The Stanford track and field teams got their season underway at the UW Indoor Preview from Dempsey Indoor Stadium on Saturday. The Cardinal had several good results including a pair of NCAA provisional marks.
Myles Bradley led the way for Stanford, winning the 60-meter hurdles with a NCAA provisional time of 7.85. The time was just seven hundredths of a second off his own school record of 7.78. J.J. Jackson also competed in the hurdles, qualifying for the final with a time of 8.39.
The other NCAA provisional qualifying mark was by Casey Roche in the pole vault. Roche won the event with a vault of 17-1. Corey Dysick also competed, finishing fourth with a mark of 16-1 ¼.
In the 60 meters, Ryan Fisicaro impressed by winning the event with a time of 6.85. Fisicaro was just off of Wopamo Osaisai's school record of 6.83, but now sits in second on the all-time Stanford list. Bradley doubled in the 60 meters and finished third with a time of 6.92.
The women were led by Brittni Dixon-Smith who doubled in the 60 meters and the long jump. Dixon-Smith finished third in the long jump with a leap of 19-8 ¾ and fourth in the prelims of the 60 meters with a time of 7.75.
Also competing in the prelims of the 60 meters was Joy O'Hare who finished seventh with a time of 7.91.
The Cardinal had a pair of participants in the 60-meter hurdles as Idara Otu placed third with a time of 9.13 and Jordan Merback placed fourth with a time of 9.25.
The Cardinal will be back on the track next Saturday, Jan. 24 when they compete at the New Mexico Silver and Cherry Classic from Albuquerque, N.M.
