STANFORD, Calif. No. 5 Stanford cruised past No. 51 Colorado 6-1 on Friday afternoon in the opening round of the ITA National Team Indoor Qualifying session at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
The Cardinal improves to 2-0 while the Buffaloes are now 2-2 overall.
Stanford now faces No. 36 Illinois, a 4-3 winner over No. 38 UNLV earlier this morning, on Saturday at 1 p.m. with a trip to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships on the line.
The Cardinal swept all three doubles matches, clinching a 1-0 lead after the No. 2 team of Carolyn McVeigh and Jessica Nguyen dispatched of Franziska Jendrian and Ania Anuszkiewicz 8-1.
Stanford proceeded to win five of the six singles matches, with Courtney Clayton securing the match at the No. 6 position with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph.
