Stanford Finishes 13th At Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge

Palos Verdes, Calif. - The course and conditions proved difficult for No. 21 Stanford as the Cardinal completed the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in 13th place. Stanford shot a third-round score of 33-over-par 317 on Wednesday to give them a three-day total of 108-over-par 960.

Arizona State won the competition after completing Wednesday's round with a score of 15-over-par 299. The Sun Devils three-day total of 46-over-par 898 was good enough for a 18-stroke victory over No. 11 Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons fired the low round of the day on Wednesday to climb into the runner-up position with a three-day total of 64-over-par 916. One stroke back in third was No. 1 UCLA with a total of 65-over-par 917.

For a second straight day, Stanford was led by senior Mari Chun. Chun shot a third-round 4-over-par 75 to give her a three-day total of 18-over-par 231. After a poor opening round, Chun climbed all the way to 13th place for the tournament.

Rebecca Durham totaled her low round of the tournament with an 8-over-par 79 on Wednesday. Durham finished tied for 44th with a three-day total of 27-over-par 240.

Also with a tournament low round of 79 on Wednesday for Stanford was Ki-Shui Liao. Liao finished one stroke back of Durham with a three-day total of 28-over-par 241, tied for 50th place.

With a second straight 84, Piper Miller finished alone in 70th place with a three-day total of 35-over-par 248.

Stanford will next compete on Feb. 22-24, when they travel to Sonora, Mexico to take part in the Arizona Wildcat Invitational.
