SAN FRANCISCO - Despite posting its highest team total of the season, the seventh-ranked Stanford men's gymnastics team fell to second-ranked California tonight at the 21st annual Gold Country Classic.
The Golden Bears narrowly edged the Cardinal by 25 hundredths of a point, 354.250-354.000, in the teams' third meeting this year.

Stanford will next compete in the Pacific Coast Classic in Oakland at the Oakland Convention Center on Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m. The Cardinal will be joined by NCAA squads Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, and Air Force, along with Cal, which will be the fourth meeting between the teams this season, and an all-star team composed of the top university gymnasts from Japan.
