Davis, Calif. - On the eve of the Stanford Invitational, two Stanford athletes traveled east to compete in the UC Davis Multi Meet. Kara Bennett and Josefine Kvist posted strong results in the heptathlon, one of the few events not contested at the Stanford Invitational.
Bennett led the Stanford duo, placing third with 4,573 points. Her top event was the high jump, where she cleared 5-7 ¾ to score 879 points. It was the top high jump from any athlete in the competition. Bennett also fared well in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.89 to score 728 points.
Kvist finished fifth with a score of 4,389 in her first collegiate heptathlon. The Stanford freshman ran a time of 15.06 in the 100-meter hurdles to score 834 points. In addition her time of 2:26.76 in the 800 meters was the best of the competition.
The Stanford multi-event athletes will rejoin the rest of the team for the Stanford Invitational on Friday and Saturday, March 27-28.
