San Antonio, Texas - The second day of the National Collegiate Championships saw more great results for Stanford. The Cardinal placed first in `B' figures and second in `A' elements to earn key team points. Stanford also placed second in the semifinals of the team competition.
"We are very happy with how today went," said assistant coach Alison Bartosik. "Winning `B' figures and getting second in `A' elements was our goal. Our team performed very well and all of us are eager for tomorrow."
In `B' figures, the Cardinal were led by Olivia Morgan and Maria Koroleva who swept the top two places. Morgan took the `B' figures title with 72.033 points, while Koroleva was second with 71.981.
Other top finishers for Stanford included Michelle Moore who finished fourth with a score of 70.576, Koko Urata who finished seventh with 70.184 and Alex Bollaidlaw who was eighth with 69.705.
In `A' Elements, the Cardinal were led by Debbie Chen who finished eighth with a score of 82.986.
Also faring well were Erin Bell who was 11th with a score of 82.209 and Taylor Durand with a score of 81.659.
Rounding out the Stanford team was Corinne Smith in 17th place with a score of 80.816.
In the semifinals of the team competition, Stanford finished second with a score of 94.667. The team of Chen, Durand, Koroleva Moore, Morgan and Smith trailed only a team from Ohio State who finished with a score of 96.833.
Stanford will be back in action tomorrow for the final day of the National Collegiate Championships. The majority of the team points will be earned as the finals of the team, trio, duet and solo competitions will take place. The Cardinal will be seeking their fifth straight national collegiate title.
