2009 Schedule

STANFORD, Calif.- Stanford and California will square off in a scrimmage on Sunday, Apr. 19, at 1 p.m. at the Varsity Turf.

Stanford finished 9-11 overall in 2008, advancing to the NCAA Play-in game for the second straight season. The Cardinal was also crowned NorPac Tournament champions for the second year in a row and won seven of its final nine games to close out the season.

The Cardinal and Golden Bears have been the class of the NorPac Conference in recent seasons.

Prior to Stanford's victory over California in the 2007 NorPac Tournament final, the Cardinal had dropped 18 straight in the series- a stretch that dated back to a 1-0 Stanford shutout on Oct. 6, 2001. Stanford had come close to snapping the streak on several occasions, as 12 of those 18 losses were decided by one goal and five occurred in overtime.

But that trend is quickly getting reversed. Stanford has won three of the last four meetings against California, including two consecutive wins in the NorPac Tournament championship game.
