Stanford Faces San Jose State and Pacific in Midweek Contests
After winning its weekend series, the Stanford Cardinal (25-21) continues a stretch of seven straight non-conference games this week by visiting the WAC-leading San Jose State Spartans (35-17) Tuesday night and hosting the Pacific Tigers (18-28) Wednesday evening.
Stanford is continuing to make a strong, late-season push for the NCAA Tournament. After taking two of three from New Mexico last weekend, the Cardinal has won five of its last seven games, is 10-5 in its last 15 contests and is 21-11 since March 25.
Broadcast Information
All 56 of Stanford's regular season games, and any postseason contests, will be carried live on the home of Cardinal baseball for nearly 51 years - student station KZSU 90.1 FM. The KZSU broadcast is available on the internet either at www.kzsulive.stanford.edu or via a link on www.gostanford.com.
Matt Hodson will handle broadcast duties Tuesday at San Jose State, while Wyndam Makowsky and Jacob Jaffe will be behind the mic for Wednesday night's action.
Milleville Earns Pac-10 and Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Honors
Following a prolific offensive week, senior first baseman Brent Milleville was named the Pac-10 Player of the Week for May 4-10. He also was one of four players selected as Collegiate Baseball Newspaper/Louisville Slugger National Players of the Week, the publication declared (joining San Diego State right-hander Stephen Strasburg, Missouri outfielder Greg Folgia and San Jose State shortstop Kyle Bellows).
Milleville was a run-producing machine during a week-long power display, batting .474 (9-for-19) with six runs scored, four home runs - including two grand slams - and 16 RBI in five games. He also slugged 1.105, had an on-base percentage of .545 and went 5-for-6 with runners in scoring position.
Marquess Eighth on All-Time NCAA Division I Wins List
Stanford head coach Mark Marquess has compiled the eighth-most wins in NCAA Division I baseball history, having posted a 1,351-690-7 (.661) career record. With the Cardinal's 11-7 victory over California April 22, Marquess broke an eighth-place tie with Rod Dedeaux, who - according to the official NCAA record book - compiled a 1,342-597-16 record over 44 seasons at USC (1942-47 and 1949-86).
Marquess, who has spent his entire 33-yearhead coaching career at the helm of his alma mater, has the most victories by any coach of any sport in Stanford history.
Stanford-San Jose State Series
Since Stanford's single-game results became available in 1959, the Cardinal owns a 92-36 edge against the Spartans. Stanford won both games in 2008, then rallied from a 7-1, third-inning deficit to post a 9-8 victory last Tuesday night at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond.
Stanford-Pacific Series
Stanford and Pacific have met 61 times since 1959, and the Cardinal owns a 52-8-1 advantage. Stanford has won four of the five games over the last two seasons, including a 10-2 decision March 30 in Stockton.

Non-Conference Success - Stanford is 12-2 in Its Last 14 Outside of the Pac-10
Beginning with a March 25 victory at UC Davis, Stanford is 12-2 (.857) in its last 14 non-conference games. A May 6 loss at Santa Clara snapped the Cardinal's 10-game, non-conference winning streak - the club's longest since March 19-May 15, 2000.
Stanford is 9-1 in its last 10 home games against non-conference foes, while going 3-1 on the road. The Cardinal's success has featured a 2-0 mark against the Western Athletic Conference, 2-0 versus the Big West Conference, 2-1 against the Mountain West Conference, 4-1 against the West Coast Conference and a pair of wins against Pac-10 foe California in a non-conference setting.
In those 14 games, Stanford has a team batting average of .341 (175-for-513), while scoring 136 runs (9.7 runs per game). Cardinal pitchers, meanwhile, have posted a 4.39 ERA (61er, 125.0ip) and a .275 average against (129-for-469).
Home Sweet Home
Stanford has won 13 of its past 18 games at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond, and is 17-10 (.630) overall at home this season. The Cardinal, which is 346-121 (.741) on The Farm since 1996, will play only five of its final 11 games at home.

Last week's superb week just continued a torrid stretch for senior first baseman Brent Milleville. Beginning with the Saturday game at Washington state, he is 12-for-25 (.480) with five homers and 21 RBI over his last seven games. The slugger is batting .391 (34-for-87) with 11 homers and 40 RBI in his last 23 contests and is 43-for-113 (.381) with 14 homers, 47 RBI, a .778 slugging percentage and a .446 on-base mark since March 27 (31 games).
Milleville leads the club with a career-high 14 homers to tie for fourth in the Pac-10, while he ranks third in the conference with 50 RBI and seventh with a .649 slugging percentage.
Setting the Table
Sophomore second baseman and Stanford leadoff hitter Colin Walsh has reached base safely via hit, walk or hit-by-pitch in 29 straight games, extending the streak by going 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored in yesterday's win. The switch-hitting Walsh is hitting .374 (40-for-107) with a .511 on-base percentage during the stretch, adding 28 runs scored, eight doubles, 17 RBI, 30 walks and one hit-by-pitch.
Going back even further, Walsh has reached base safely in 36 of the 37 games since he was permanently inserted into the leadoff spot on March 7. Walsh has hit at a .350 clip (48-for-137) during the stretch, with a .500 on-base mark.
In the NCAA Division I rankings released May 12, Walsh ranks 13th in the country with an average of 0.93 walks per game and is tied for 20th with 42 walks overall (t-1st in the Pac-10). He ranks fifth in the Pac-10 with an overall .468 on-base percentage.
Clowe in the Flow
Sophomore designated hitter Ben Clowe has found his swing as of late, homering in three of Stanford's last six games - including a solo shot in Saturday's 17-5 victory over New Mexico.
Clowe has hit safely in eight of his last 10 games (including four multi-hit efforts), going 12-for-34 (.353) with a pair of doubles, the three homers and five RBI.
Hot August Nights in the Spring
Senior center fielder Joey August is enjoying one of the best stretches of his superb four-year career, batting .371 (36-for-97) with five doubles, one homer and 15 RBI while hitting safely in 20 of his last 22 games.
August has five consecutive multi-hit contests, going 11-for-25 (.440) during the span. He has a total of six multi-hit efforts during his current eight-game hitting streak, a stretch in which he is batting .410 (16-for-39).
