Stanford Baseball Fireworks Night Moved to Saturday, May 23; Game Will Start at 6:00 p.m.

May 18, 2009

STANFORD, Calif. - The annual Stanford Baseball Fireworks Night has been pushed back one day, and will now take place on Saturday, May 23 following that night's Cardinal vs. Oregon State game at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond. That game was originally scheduled for 1:00 p.m., but will now be pushed back to a 6:00 p.m. first pitch.

The Fireworks Night change was necessitated by the success of the Stanford softball team, which will be hosting at least one nationally televised NCAA Super Regional game against Arizona on the evening of Friday, May 22, with the possibility of a championship-deciding doubleheader.

Please also note that the 2009 Stanford baseball regular season finale, originally scheduled for Sunday, May 24 at 1:00 p.m., will now begin an hour earlier, at 12:00 p.m.

Stanford enters the final week of the regular season playing its best baseball of the year. The Cardinal has won six of its last seven games, and nine of its last 12 contests, while going 14-6 in its past 20 outings and 25-12 since March 25.
