Eugene, Ore. - Saturday marked the conclusion of the NCAA West Regional from Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon. Stanford had several more marks producing automatic qualifiers to the NCAA Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. from June 10-13. Myles Bradley led the Cardinal by capturing an individual region title.
Both the Stanford men's and women's teams placed fifth in the team standings, although the meet is more geared for individuals to qualify through to the NCAA meet than for team scores.
Bradley earned a trip to the NCAA Championships by running a personal-best time of 13.53 in the 110-meter hurdles. The time was wind aided and will not count for record purposes, but gives Bradley the sixth-fastest time in the nation this year.
The Cardinal excelled in the hurdles as Amaechi Morton also qualified for the NCAA meet by finishing second in the 400-meter hurdles. Morton ran a time of 50.75 to earn a berth to his first NCAA Championships.
Also earning a trip to the NCAA meet on the track was Garrett Heath in the 1,500 meters. Heath finished third with a time of 3:41.22 to clinch what will be the final NCAA meet of the eight-time All-Americans career.
Leading the way in the field events for the Stanford men was Daniel Schaerer in the discus. The Pac-10 Champion in the event finished second with a throw of 199-2 to earn a trip to Arkansas where he should contend for the NCAA title. Geoffrey Tabor also placed in the event, finishing seventh with a personal-best toss of 186-8.
Also excelling in the throws was Kyle Davis-Hammerquist in the hammer. The Stanford senior earned his first trip to the NCAA meet by placing fifth in the event with a career-best toss of 206-11. Carter Wells also competed, placing 21st with a toss of 187-6.
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase Chris Mocko finished seventh and JT Sullivan ninth, to just miss qualifying automatically. Mocko finished with a time of 8:59.81, while Sullivan crossed the line in 9:01.86. They will await the at-large bids on Tuesday. Benjamin Johnson also competed in the event, placing 15th with a time of 9:09.37.
Competing in the pole vault for the Stanford men were Casey Roche and Corey Dysick. Roche placed tenth with a mark of 16-11, while Dysick was 17th with a mark of 16-7 ¼. Neither will advance automatically.
The Cardinal also competed in the 4x100-meter relay, placing fifth, but will not advance. The team of Daniel Belch, Tyrone McGraw, Zach Chandy and Ryan Fisicaro finished with a time of 40.33.

The women were led by a pair of national qualifiers in the 1,500 meters. Lauren Centrowitz finished as the runner-up with a time of 4:23.57, while Alicia Follmar placed fourth with a time of 4:23.84. The duo who has earned a combined 11 All-America honors will be competing in their final NCAA meet. Madeline Duhon also competed, finishing eighth with a time of 4:27.68.
Also earning a trip to the NCAA's in the distances was Emilie Amaro in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Amaro finished third with a time of 10:16.39, advancing as a freshman. Madeleine O'Meara also competed, finishing 10th with a time of 10:35.32.
Michaela Wallerstedt continued her strong meet by advancing to the NCAA meet in the shot put, a day after advancing in the discus. Wallerstedt finished fourth with a throw of 51-3 ¾ to become the only Stanford athlete to qualify for the NCAA meet in multiple events.
In the triple jump, Whitney Liehr placed second to advance to the NCAA Championships. Liehr leaped a wind-aided 43-8 ½. The All-American in the pentathlon will advance to the NCAA's for the fist time in an individual event. Jordan Merback also competed, placing ninth with a mark of 41-3. Arantxa King was scratched from the event.
Also competing for the Stanford women was Shataya Hendricks in the 100 meters. Hendricks finished seventh with a wind-aided time of 11.61 and will not qualify for the NCAA meet automatically.
The Cardinal will complete the collegiate season at the NCAA Championships from June 10-13. 13 athletes in 14 events have qualified automatically, while the rest will await the at-large selections on Tuesday, June 2.
