Gainesville, Fla. - The Stanford synchronized swimming team got their season off to a strong start with a 63-55 victory over Florida. The Cardinal swept all of the events on their way to a convincing victory over the Gators.
In the team competition, Stanford defeated Florida by a score of 88.583 to 84.417. The Cardinal team was made up of Erin Bell, Allison Coates, Taylor Durand, Morgan Fuller and Koko Urata.
In the solo competition, Stanford captured the top two spots overall. Urata won the competition with a score of 88.500, while Fuller finished as the runner-up with 87.667 points.
Stanford also took to the top two spots in the duet competition. The pairing of Bell and Durand captured first place with 91.500 points, which was the high score of the day. Finishing in second were Coates and Urata with 88.667 points.
Finally, it the trio competition, the Stanford team of Durand, Bell and Fuller won with a score of 89.333 points.
The Cardinal will next compete on Feb., 7-8, when they welcome Incarnate Word to the Avery Aquatic Center.
