No. 13 Stanford Blanks Pacific 3-0 To Maintain NorPac Lead

STOCKTON, Calif.- No. 13 Stanford notched its fourth shutout of the year on Sunday afternoon, blanking Pacific 3-0 on the road to strengthen its standing in the NorPac conference.

The Cardinal is now 11-2 overall and 3-1 in league play, remaining atop the West Division standings after completing a season sweep of Pacific. The Tigers fall to 3-7 overall and 2-2 in NorPac competition.

Stanford scored all three of its goals in the second period and rattled off a season-best 29 shot attempts compared to Pacific's total of two.

Becky Dru, Xanthe Travlos and Midori Uehara all found the net for Stanford, which rebounded nicely from a 3-1 defeat at Penn State earlier in the week.

Stanford outshot Pacific 11-0 in the first half and 18-2 over the final 35 minutes. The Cardinal attempted an eye-popping 20 penalty corners, compared to just one chance by the Tigers.

Travlos led all players with eight shot attempts- all on goal, while Dru chipped in with seven and Camille Gandhi added six.

Stanford led 1-0 in the 37th minute following Dru's seventh goal of the year, coming off a penalty corner with assists from Gandhi and Jaimee Erickson.

The Cardinal made it 2-0 in the 60:09 mark when Travlos scored her sixth goal of the season off another penalty corner chance.

Rounding out the scoring was Uehara in the 68th minute, scoring her team-best eighth goal unassisted to secure the 3-0 win.

Goalkeeper Alessandra Moss made two saves and lowered her GAA to 1.23.

Stanford next faces UC Davis on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m. in the first of two home games remaining in the regular season.
