COLLEGE PARK, Md.- Hayley Turner scored a pair of unassisted goals to lead No. 15 Louisville past No. 12 Stanford on Sunday morning in a neutral site contest played at College Park, Md.
For the first time this year, Stanford (13-4, 5-1 NorPac) suffered back-to-back losses after falling 6-2 to No. 1 Maryland on Friday night.
Against Louisville (12-7, 4-2 Big East) on Sunday, the Cardinal was uncharacteristically bottled up on offense. It marked just the third time this season that Stanford failed to score at least two goals in a match.
Louisville took an early 2-0 advantage, scoring two goals in the first 25 minutes of the contest with unassisted scores from Nikki Auker and Hayley Turner.
Junior Jaimee Erickson found the cage for Stanford at the 27:32 mark, scoring her seventh goal of the year following assists from senior Nora Soza and freshman Becky Dru.
But the Cardinals scored twice again after halftime, getting a second goal from Turner in the 39th minute and a tally from Karah Nall in the 48th minute.
Louisville held a 23-16 edge in shot attempts, while Stanford owned a 10-9 advantage in penalty corners.
Sophomore Alessandra Moss matched her career-high total of 13 saves, and came up with 25 saves combined on the two-game road trip.
Stanford is back in action on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 1:30 p.m. The Cardinal has earned the West Division's No. 1 seed in next week's NorPac Championship and will play its opening round contest against the No. 4 seed from the East Division.
