Stanford, Calif. - The Stanford fencing teams got its season off to a strong start over the weekend in front of a standing room only crowd at the Stanford Fencing Salle. The Stanford men went 3-0 on the day, while the women were 2-2.
The Cardinal men recorded victories over Cal Tech, UC San Diego and Detroit. They were led by undefeated epee and sabre squads.
In addition, Kevin Mo, Jeremy Klepner and Max Murphy went undefeated individually.
The women defeated Cal Tech and Detroit, but came up short against Northwestern and UC San Diego.
The women's epee squad was particularly strong, going undefeated on the day.
Individually, Ashley Titan and Francesca Bassa combined to go 11-1 to lead Stanford.
Next up for the Cardinal is the Midwest Invitational on January 30 and 31. The event will take place in Evanston, Ill.
