STANFORD, Calif.- James Anderson scored 28 points to help Oklahoma State beat Stanford 71-70 on Wednesday night as part of the Big 12/Pac-10 Hardwood Series.
Obi Muonelo added a season-high 20 points for the Cowboys (9-1), who won their third straight since losing to Tulsa two weeks ago.
Landry Fields tallied his fourth double-double of the year with 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Cardinal (5-4), which lost for the second time in six home games. Jeremy Green added 19 points, and Andrew Zimmerman chipped in with a career-high 14.
Despite shooting 46.6 percent from the field, Stanford finished 12-24 from the foul line and was just 4-16 from three-point territory.
Oklahoma State, which was whistled for 25 fouls, held a 38-37 rebounding edge. The Cowboys shot 44.3 percent overall but also committed 17 turnovers.
Trailing by as many as 12 points in the first half, Stanford closed the period on a 9-2 run over the final three minutes to pull within 35-30 at intermission.
Oklahoma State's lead swelled to 15 points at 51-36 with 13:43 left to play in the second half, only to see Stanford rally back.
Trailing 67-58 with 4:29 remaining in the contest, Stanford used a 10-2 scoring run to close within 69-68 following a lay-up from Zimmermann with 37 seconds left.
Two free throws from Ray Penn put the Cowboys back up 71-68, but Fields answered with a pair of free throws to make it 71-70.
Oklahoma State's Keiton Page misfired on his first free throw attempt, giving possession back to the Cardinal.
Stanford ended up with the last shot, with Fields getting the ball to Zimmerman with seven seconds left. He tried to find Fields, but with time running out, went to the basket instead and missed off the back rim.
