HONOLULU, Hawai'i-- Stanford Sailing ran the table on the rest of the competition winning on the Big Island with the top coed and women's teams on Saturday and Sunday, on the same course as this year's conference championships in April.
The Cardinal won the coed division with a final tally of 116 points, at the Peter Wenner Rainbow Intersectional, six points ahead of second place Salve Regina (122) and 19 points ahead of USC (135).
The Cardinal "A" Division tallied 62 points, second-best to USC's 54, but probably would have won the division if not for being disqualified during the ninth race, as the Cardinal were first or second four times over the 11 races. In the "B" Division, the Cardinal tallied 54 points, one behind Salve Regina's 53 points, who made up four points on the final day of racing overall. The Cardinal "B"Division won back-to-back races in the eighth and ninth stanzas.
The Stanford women tallied 202 points for seventh place overall and first amongst the women's teams of Hawaii (216/217), USC (241) and UCLA (305). The Cardinal "A" Division finished second three times and in the top-10 another three times for 102 points, while the "B" Division had 200 points with six top-10 finishes.
The Cardinal's next regatta is the North Fleet Scrimmage and North Race at their home port in Redwood City on February 6 and 7.
