LAS VEGAS- Freshmen Stacey Tan and Natalie Dillon led the way for Stanford over the weekend at the Freeman Memorial Championships, capturing singles titles in their respective divisions as the Cardinal kicked off its spring season.
Meanwhile, Tan also captured the doubles crown in her flight with fellow rookie Mallory Burdette.
Tan won all five of her singles matches, concluding with a 7-6, 6-2 win over North Carolina's Katrina Tsang in the flight one title match. In doubles, she teamed with Burdette to defeat North Carolina's Sophie Grabinski and Sanaz Marand 8-6. Tan and Burdette, who reached the semifinals of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships back in October, are now 8-2 overall.
Dillon defeated UNLV's Rumyana Terzieva 6-4, 6-7, 6-2 to capture the hardware in the flight two championship match.
Other members of the Stanford women's tennis team were competing at the NCTC Classic in Indian Wells, Calif.
