LOS ANGELES (AP)- USC had the late-game heroics this time against Stanford, avenging an earlier one-point road loss by scoring the game's final six points Saturday for a 54-49 victory.

Nikola Vucevic scored on a put-back after a missed Marcus Johnson drive with 26.4 seconds left. That bucket came after four USC tip-in attempts and gave the Trojans (14-9, 6-5 Pac-10) the lead for good at 50-49. Free throws from Johnson and Dwight Lewis iced the game after that.

Stanford (10-13, 4-7 Pac-10), which is now 0-10 on the road this year, missed a jump shot and a free throw down the stretch.

The Cardinal received another standout performance from Landry Fields, who registered his second straight double-double and 10th overall with 27 points and 11 rebounds. Playing all 40 minutes for the fourth time this year, Fields made 10-19 from the field to keep Stanford within striking distance.

USC took its biggest lead at the 9:04 mark of the first half, going up 21-7 following a jumper from Alex Stepheson. But the Cardinal rallied back just before halftime, cutting USC's lead at intermission to 27-26.

A pair of free throws from Fields with 7:43 remaining in the contest put Stanford in front 44-40, only to see USC grab a 48-46 lead with 2:49 left to play after a lay-up from Mike Gerrity.

Stanford was limited to a season-low 30.4 percent shooting from the field, making only 26.9 percent in the second half. The Cardinal was 8-19 from beyond the arc, but the Trojans owned a 38-35 rebounding edge. USC also racked up 10 blocks.
