Tim Gentry Leads Stanford At Winter Cup Challenge

Las Vegas, Nev. - Tim Gentry led a group of Stanford competitors at the Winter Cup Challenge. Gentry finished fifth in the all-around and earned a spot on the U.S. Men's Senior National Team.

Gentry finished the competition with a score of 170.8, just five points off the Christopher Brooks of Oklahoma who took the meet title. With his performance, Gentry was named to the national team through the 2010 Visa Championships in Hartford, Conn., from Aug. 11-14.

Gentry's top performance came in the final of the vault where he scored a 15.9. He also excelled in the final of the rings with a score of 15.1 to place third overall. Gentry was also seventh on the floor with a combined score of 29.350.

Stanford's next best competitor was Alex Buscaglia who placed 24th in the all-around with a total of 162.55. Buscaglia was fifth overall on the vault with scores of 16.0 and 15.85. He also excelled on the horizontal bar with the sixth best combined score of 28.35.

Just behind Buscaglia was Josh Dixon in 25th with a score of 161.95. Dixon's top event was also vault where he totaled scores of 15.45 and 14.95

The final all-around competitor for Stanford was Ryan Lieberman, who placed 27th. Lieberman was 11th on parallel bars with scores of 14.3 and 14.05.

The Cardinal will be back in action next weekend at the Gold Country Classic in Livermore, Calif. The meet will take place, Saturday, Feb.13, at 7:00 p.m.
