Stanford Fencing Places Ninth At The NCAA Championships

Cambridge, Mass. - After four days of competition, the Stanford fencing teams placed ninth at the 2010 NCAA Championships. Of the six Stanford competitors, four were named All-America.

The men had three All-Americans, led by an eighth-place finish by Kevin Mo in the epee. It was the first All-America honor for Mo, who placed 17th last season.

The other Cardinal men honored were Kian Ameli and Lucas Janson. Ameli placed 11th in the epee, while Janson placed ninth in the saber. It was the second All-America honor for Janson, while Ameli earned his first.

The women were led by Francesca Bassa who placed eighth in the epee. Bassa was the lone Cardinal female to be honored as All-American.

Also competing for Stanford were Jessica Wacker and Max Murphy. Wacker placed 17th in the women's foil, while Murphy placed 17th in the men's saber.

This marks the second consecutive season that Stanford has finished ninth in the nation.
