April 16, 2010

Final Stats

Stanford, Calif. - Stanford scored in early and often on its way to a convincing 18-7 win over Oregon on Friday night at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium. The Cardinal scored 14 first-half goals to improve to 9-5 (3-1 MPSF). The Ducks fell to 6-9 (2-2 MPSF).

Stanford played one of its best offensive games of the year using crisp passing and improved shooting to build a huge first-half lead. The Cardinal converted 14 goals in the half on just 18 shots.

"I thought it was a good team effort," said head coach Amy Bokker. "Offensively we were in a good rhythm and I liked how we were able to find the back of the net because that is something we worked on all week in practice."

Dana Lindsay paced the Cardinal with five first-half goals. The senior now has 26 on the season. Leslie Foard also added a first-half hat trick, while Lauren Schmidt had a goal and three assists in the half.

Schmidt added a fourth assist in the second half as Stanford finished with a season high 11 assists. Sarah Flynn and Amanda Schwab also had multiple goal games with two apiece.

Stanford outshot Oregon just 26-18, but converted 18 of those 26 shots into goals. The Cardinal also won 15 of 27 draw controls to take possession the majority of the time.

Annie Read made eight saves in net for Stanford, four in each half.

The Cardinal return to action on Sunday, April 18, when they host Saint Mary's at 1:00 p.m. for senior day. Eight Cardinal seniors will be honored before the MPSF matchup versus the Gaels.
