Final Stats

Stanford, Calif. - No. 15 Stanford put on an offensive display on Sunday afternoon on the way to a 21-5 rout on Saint Mary's. Celebrating senior day, the Cardinal cruised to the win to improve its record to 10-5 (4-1 MPSF). The 21 goals scored by Stanford was its highest output of the season.

Before the game, Stanford honored the eight graduating seniors on the 2010 team. The festivities seemed to inject an extra spark as the Cardinal came out flying fight from the first whistle.

"I thought it was a great way to honor our seniors," said head coach Amy Bokker. "The team put forth great energy and effort, which is a tribute to the seniors."

The Cardinal took an early lead just 40 seconds into the game when Lauren Schmidt found Sarah Flynn for a goal. Both would find themselves in the middle of the scoring all day. Flynn tallied four goals and two assists on the afternoon to give her a team-leading 33 goals and 43 points for the season. Schmidt tallied three goals and two assists and now has 25 goals and 16 assists for the season.

Stanford scored 15 first-half goals on just 22 shots in the period. Amanda Schwab joined Flynn and Schmidt with a hat trick, while Leslie Foard also had a multiple goal game with two.

"I was really pleased with our offensive effort," said Bokker. "We had 12 different goals scorers and 15 of our goals were assisted, which was great to see."

Among the 12 goals scorers were freshmen Jacqueline Candelaria and Ryan O'Shea who each scored the first goal of their Stanford careers.

Stanford outshot Saint Mary's 34-14 in the game and also collected a season high 37 ground balls. Dana Lindsay led Stanford with seven ground balls.

Defensively, the Cardinal held strong, allowing just the five goals and only one in the second half. Annie Read made seven saves in net and earned her 10th win of the season.

The Cardinal will conclude the regular season in one week when it returns to Laird Q. Cagan Stadium on Sunday, April 25, to face UC Davis. The game will begin at 1:00 p.m. in a key MPSF matchup.
