WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- Stanford first baseman Jonathan Kaskow (Coppell, TX) was named the Pac-10 Conference's Player of the Week following four multi-hit games and a .625 average last week.
Kaskow completed the team's weekend sweep at No. 14-ranked Oregon State with three hits on Sunday, after two hits in Saturday's series clincher.
Kaskow started off the week by driving in three as part of a 3-for-4 night at Santa Clara last Tuesday, before hitting his first home run at OSU on Friday, driving in four as part of another two-hit evening. Kaskow is hitting an even .500 in 12 Pac-10 games this season, the best conference-only average.
Kaskow, the team's starting first baseman is hitting .455 this overall season over 19 starts with 22 RBIs and a .621 slugging percentage. He also has 14 walks for a .542 on-base percentage in 81 plate appearances. This is his first conference honor of any kind.
Stanford (18-13, 7-5 Pac-10), winners of five straight, have moved back into the national top-25 after a one-week absence, ranking No. 22 in both Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball.
The Cardinal will host four-straight this week, beginning with Santa Clara (14-19) on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Stanford beat the Broncos, 14-0, last Tuesday. SCU lost all three to San Diego this weekend and overall have lost eight of its last 10.
Stanford hosts fellow Bay Area rival, No. 15-ranked California (22-11, 8-4 Pac-10) this weekend in a top-25 matchup at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond on Friday at 5:30 p.m and Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.
