Track & Field Underway At The Brutus Hamilton Invitational

Berkeley, Calif. - The Brutus Hamilton Invitational got underway on Friday with some strong results from Stanford. The majority of the Cardinal competitors will be on the track tomorrow, but things got off to a great start led by Amaechi Morton in the 200 meters.

The men were led by Morton in the 200 meters who placed second with a time of 21.28. The time was a personal best for Morton who moved to eighth all-time at Stanford in the event. Durell Coleman also participated in the 200, finishing 12th with a time of 22.33.

In the throws, Cody Cox competed in the hammer with a toss of 165-10. Robert Hintz placed sixth in the javelin with a throw of 183-2.

For the women, a pair of freshmen competed in the 400-meter hurdles. Kala Stepter led the way with a time of 1:02.18 to finish seventh, while Joesephine Kvist placed 16th with a time of 1:06.12.

In the 200 meters, Hannah Farley led the way, placing ninth in 24.92. Joy O'Hare was 22nd with a time of 25.80.

In the long jump, Whitney Liehr placed second overall with a leap of 19-4. Tiffany Tillett also competed, finishing fifth with a jump of 17-10 ¼.

Stanford will be back in action on Saturday for the conclusion of the Brutus Hamilton Invitational. The Cardinal also have a small group of throwers that traveled to UC San Diego and will be competing in the Triton Invitational.
