No. 11 Stanford Makes It Nine Straight; Tops Washington 4-3

SEATTLE, Wash.- No. 11 Stanford collected its ninth consecutive win on Friday afternoon, edging No. 25 Washington 4-3 in Seattle.

The Cardinal (16-1, 5-0 Pac-10) has not dropped a match since its only loss of the year back on Feb. 26, a 6-1 defeat to then-No. 4 UCLA. Meanwhile, the Huskies fell to 11-4 overall and 3-3 in league play.

Stanford claimed the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead with wins on courts one and three, respectively.

Mallory Burdette defeated Samantha Smith 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 3 position before Hilary Barte rallied for a 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 win at the No. 1 spot to make it 3-0.

Washington snagged its first point of the day at No. 6 before Stacey Tan's 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 victory on court four proved to be the clincher.

Stanford concludes its road trip on Sunday, Apr. 11, at Oregon.
