STANFORD, Calif.--  Kenny Diekroeger had three hits to extend his hit streak to 22 games as Stanford (28-20) defeated visiting Hawai'i (26-24) 5-1 on Tuesday evening.

Diekroeger finished 3-for-4, as he also made a nice defensive play in the seventh, back handing a ball past third, turning and firing to get Matt Roquemore at first. Diekroeger ignited a three-run rally in the sixth, snapping a 1-1 tie.

Diekroeger's third single of the game gave the Cardinal a 2-1 lead following a leadoff double by Colin Walsh. A balk by former leftfielder Justin Moore, before he threw a pitch, made it 3-1, before a Jake Schlander RBI single on his first pitch made it 4-1. Harrison Kuroda (0-1), who put all three runners on base took the loss.

Walsh's RBI single in the seventh made it 5-1. Eric Smith's first of two hits, an RBI single up the middle tied the game at 1-1 in the fourth.  Walsh finished 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Danny Sandbrink in his third start of the season, went the first 4.1 innings for the Cardinal, pitching to one over the minimum over the first four innings before walking two and being relieved in the fifth. Brian Busick (5-1) got the final two outs in the fifth to keep it at 1-1. Busick followed with two more shutout innings for the win.

Fifth year senior Kevin Fujii's first career home run with two outs in the third gave the Rainbows a 1-0 lead.

The Cardinal, tied for third place, will head back to Pac-10 Conference play this weekend for a three-game series at Arizona.

NOTES: Stanford, with one more midweek game next week, are 7-5 in midweek games this season...   Sandbrink picked off the first two batters of the game, at first each time, after back-to-back base hits...  Backup Eric Smith has now driven in a run in three-straight games.
