LOS ANGELES-- Stanford Sailing opened up the New Year's with a third place finish at USC's Rose Bowl Regatta, paced by the second best showing of all the “B” Divisions amongst the 26 competitors.
Tallying 56 total points, and 17 by the “B” Division skippered by Peter Stemler and Wade Hatton and a crew of Alexandra Dunlap, the Cardinal never finished lower than fifth in all five of their races on the “B” side.
In the “A” Division, Cole Hatton and Rebecca King tallied 39 points, seventh amongst their set of competitors, rallying to finish fifth and fourth over the final two races after opening up the regatta on Saturday with a 15th place finish. They never finished lower than eighth the rest of the way.
Georgetown won the overall event with 35 points, while the College of Charleston tallied 41 points. The Cardinal, who came into the final day in fifth place, passed both USC (66 points) and Miami (70) on the final day of competition.
The Cardinal will next travel to the Peter Wenner Hawai'i Intersectional on January 16 and 17.
