AUSTIN, Texas-- Kevin Keyes hit a grand slam and No. 3-ranked Texas (3-2) snapped No. 18-ranked Stanford's (4-1) four-game win streak to start the season, following a 6-0 shutout in the series opener on Friday.
Keyes broke open the game in the fifth, lifting a grand slam to right to make it 5-0 in what began as a pitcher's duel. Stanford left five runners in scoring position through five as Texas All-American Taylor Jungmann (2-0), despite a career-tying four walks, struck out 10 over seven shutout innings, allowing just four hits.
Jordan Pries (1-1), gave up six runs on seven hits over 5.1 innings for the loss. Zach Jones had two of the Cardinal's five hits.
Texas backstop Cameron Rupp gave Texas a 1-0 lead in the third on an RBI double to right center in a pitcher's duel early.
Saturday's game will start on noon PT on Saturday and 11 a.m. PT on Sunday. LHP Scott Snodgress (0-0, 4.26) will pitch on Saturday and LHP Brett Mooneyham (0-0, 5.06) will twirl on Sunday.
