STANFORD, Calif.-- Stanford Sailing secured a berth into the national team championships in May following a victory at the Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference team championships.
Fighting through driving rain, wind directions which blew in four directions and winds from 0 to 20 knots, the Cardinal defeated Hawaii for the automatic berth into the national team championships at the end of May. Stanford finished with a mark of 16-1, while the Wahine were 12-5. USC (11 wins) and UC Santa Barbara (9) rounded out the top four at the regatta.
Stanford, needing to win just once in the final four round robin, defeated Hawaii for the team championship. The Cardainal began the day 9-0 after the first day of racing and won all five races on day two.
The national team championships will take in Madison, WI from May 29 to 31.
