MADISON, Wisc.-- Stanford Sailing finished off the first of three national championships in 13th place at the women's national championships, finishing with 205 points.
The “B” division team skippered by Hannah Burroughs and with Megan Grove as her crew, had the best finish for the Cardinal, finishing with 92 points for 11th place amongst its 18 competitors. The duo sandwiched the 10-race field with a second place finish to start and third place finish to end. Due to little wind, both divisions were unable to complete an 11th B race.
The “A” division skippered by Eliza Richartz, with Rebecca King as the crew, finished with 113 points, finishing third twice and fourth in the opening race on Thursday, but also being disqualified once, which without, probably would have moved the team into 11th or 12th place overall.
College of Charleston won the overall event with 84 points.
The Championships continue on May 29-31 with the team championships and conclude with the coed championship June 1-3. Stanford is one of just eight teams in the nation to be entered in all three sailing regattas.
