MADISON, Wisc.-- Stanford Sailing finished off its season in 18th place at the coed national championships, after no wind forced the cancelation of day three. Stanford finished with 237 points in the last of three national championships.
The Cardinal, one of eight programs with squads in all three national championships over the past week on Lake Mendota, was within striking distance of Old Dominion, which is in 14th place with 214 points as the final five teams were within 33 points of one another heading into the final day.
On day two, through nine and a half races, the “B” division skippered by Peter Stemler tallied 118 points, as it finished 12th in the ninth race and 14th for the second and third times. Stemler, a senior, is racing for the last time in his collegiate career on Thursday.
The “A” division team, skippered by Justin Doane, finished its day in fourth place for 119 points. It has also finished fifth, eighth and ninth amongst the 10 races.
The third day of sailing concludes the season for second head coach John Vandemoer.
