San Diego, Calif. - The Stanford fencing program opened 2011 with some impressive results. The Cardinal men swept the weekend, finishing 5-0, while the women were 3-2.
The Stanford men defeated UC San Diego, Air Force, California Institure of Technology, Northwestern and Florida. Among the top performers were Alex Khoshnevissan who finished 11-1 in the foil.
Other standouts on the weekend were Max Murphy who was 11-1, Cole Connelly at 6-0, Jake Harbour at 14-1 and Kevin Mo who was 9-0.
The women defeated Air Force, CIT and Florida. The losses came to UC San Diego and Northwestern. The epee group of Ashley Titan, Katherine Lynch and Kersten Schnurle each finished 10-4.
The Cardinal will next compete at the Midwest Invitational in Chicago on Feb. 5-6.
