STANFORD, Calif.- No. 1 Stanford coasted past Washington State 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
Stanford improved to 11-0 overall and 2-0 in the Pac-10 while Washington State fell to 8-5 overall and 0-2 in the Pac-10.
The win also extended Stanford's NCAA-record home winning streak to an unthinkable 171 consecutive matches (139 regular season, 32 NCAA Tournament)- a streak that spans nearly 12 seasons and is recognized as the longest active home winning streak among all sports in Division I athletics. The Cardinal has not lost at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium since a 5-4 setback against No. 4 California back on Feb. 27, 1999.
With the threat of rain in the forecast, singles was played first. Stanford locked up all six victories, with Kristie Ahn's 6-2, 6-2 triumph on court four providing the clincher.
Stanford then went on to sweep all three doubles matches.
Stanford is back in action on Thursday, Mar. 3, against San Francisco at 1:30 p.m.
