MALIBU, Calif.- No. 2 Stanford blanked No. 30 Pepperdine 7-0 on Thursday afternoon, completing a match that was halted midway through singles play one day earlier due to rain.
With the threat of rain in the forecast, the teams agreed to play singles first when the match originally began Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. All six Stanford players won their first set before rain forced the postponement.
The contest was resumed Thursday at 11 a.m., with Stanford claiming victories at all six spots.
The Cardinal (15-0, 2-0 Pac-10) then captured the doubles point, registering its ninth shutout win of the year.
Pepperdine fell to 7-6 overall.
This is the first of three road games this weekend for Stanford, which also faces No. 8 UCLA (Friday at 1:30 p.m.) and No. 13 USC (Saturday at 12 p.m.).
