Final Stats

Columbus, Ohio - No. 9 Stanford stayed unbeaten, routing Ohio State, 17-5, on Saturday afternoon at the indoor turf of the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Stanford used an early first-half burst to cruise to the victory.

Stanford scored just 30 seconds into the game on a free-position shot from Leslie Foard. Moments later Emilie Boeri scored an unassisted goal and the Cardinal were off and running. Foard would end up with a hat trick for the game, while Boeri had four goals and an assist.

The Buckeyes would get a goal to make it 2-1, but then Stanford scored nine consecutive goals to blow the game open. Anna Boeri, Nina Swanson, Sarah Flynn, Anna Kim and Carolyn Bradley joined Foard and Boeri with goals during the big Stanford run.

Stanford took a 12-2 lead to halftime as the stunned Buckeyes had no answer all day. The Cardinal only outshot Ohio State 19-14 for the half, but was on target more often than not. Meanwhile, Annie Read made five first-half saves and 10 for the game, thwarting the Ohio State shots that were on goal.

Stanford built its lead to 16-3 in the second half as the running clock rule was put into effect. Along with Foard and Boeri, Flynn, Bradley and Anna Boeri had multiple-goal games, while Anna Boeri also had two assists, pushing her team lead to seven. Overall, there were nine Cardinal goal-scorers as Stanford continues to win with balanced scoring.

The Cardinal will be right back at it on Sunday when it will play Canisius in a neutral site game in Columbus. The opening draw is set for noon in Columbus or 9am, PST.
