LOS ANGELES (AP) - Jared Cunningham scored 24 points, including 15 of 20 free throws, and Oregon State edged Stanford 69-67 in the first round of the Pac-10 Tournament on Wednesday night.
Devon Collier added 19 points, Ahmad Starks 15 points and Joe Burton had 14 rebounds for the ninth-seeded Beavers (11-19), who had not won a tournament game since March 8, 2006, when they beat Arizona State.
Jeremy Green scored a game-best 25 points, reaching the 20-point plateau for the 13th time this year. Green scored 20 of his 25 points after halftime, helping Stanford stay within striking distance late in the game.
Dwight Powell and Anthony Brown added 11 each for No. 8 seed Stanford (15-16), playing a first-round tournament game for just the second time in school history.
The Cardinal was victimized by a cold-shooting first half, shooting just 4-34 (11.8 percent) from the field. The Beavers were not much better at 33.3 percent, but three triples from Starks proved to be the difference.
Oregon State shot 35.7 percent overall, while Stanford connected at 32.8 percent. The Beavers won the rebounding battle 42-41 and cashed in from the charity stripe by making 25-35 attempts.
Stanford was 19-28 from the foul line and 8-24 from three-point territory.
