Eugene, Ore. - The Stanford track and field teams will compete in the Pepsi Invite this weekend, a scored quad meet with host Oregon as well as Washington and Nebraska. The meet is a rare example of a scored regular season meet. The meet begins Saturday, April 9, at 11:30 a.m., at Oregon's historic Hayward Field.

The men's meet will feature three top-10 teams with No. 8 Stanford, No. 9 Nebraska and No. 10 Oregon along with Washington. The women's meet includes No. 3 Oregon and No. 16 Stanford with Nebraska and Washington. Scoring will be 9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 to the top-8 in each event and 9-7-6-5 for the top-4 in each relay.

The meet will be broadcast live from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Comcast Sports Net. In addition, it will be available via webstream at goducks.com, but a subscription is necessary to the Oregon O-Zone.

The Cardinal will send a full team to the meet, although many of the athletes will not necessarily be running their best event. For example, NCAA indoor 3,000-meter champion Elliott Heath will run the 800 meters. Amaechi Morton is entered in the 110-meter hurdles and the 200 meters, while Chris Derrick and Jake Riley will run the 1,500 meters.

Some of the notables in the field are Jules Sharpe who will be among the favorites in the high jump, while Geoffrey Tabor will compete in the shot put and discus and Carter Wells will compete in the discus and hammer throw. In addition, Casey Roche will make his season debut in the pole vault.

On the women's side, Stanford has Carissa Levingston leading the 100-meter group and Brittni Dixon-Smith in the 200. All-American Stephanie Marcy will move down in distance to compete in the 1,500 meters, while Kori Carter and Katie Nelms will double in the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles.

In the field, Katerina Stefanidi is back in the pole vault after finishing as the national runner-up at the NCAA indoor meet and breaking the school record at the Stanford Invitational at her last two meets. All-American Whitney Liehr will compete in the triple jump and U.S. Junior champion Karynn Dunn will compete in the long jump.

The meet will be a good test for Stanford in a scored environment, just one week before the Big Meet. The Big Meet will take place at Stanford's Cobb Track and Angell Field on Saturday, April 16, with field events beginning at 11:50 a.m. and running events at 2:00 p.m.
