STANFORD, Calif.- No. 8 Stanford coasted past No. 52 Boise State 6-1 on Thursday afternoon at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium, increasing its season-best winning streak to seven matches.
Stanford (15-5, 4-1 Pac-10) kicked off a stretch that includes three straight contests against non-conference opponents heading into next weekend's regular season finale against California.
Boise State (13-11, 1-1 WAC) had its six-match winning streak snapped and will close the year with six consecutive road tilts.
The Cardinal quickly locked up the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead, earning wins at the Nos. 1 and 2 spots.
Stanford proceeded to clean up at the top three spots of the lineup, with Ryan Thacher's 6-3, 6-1 victory at the No. 2 spot providing the clincher after Bradley Klahn and Alex Clayton booked straight-set wins.
Jamin Ball won his second career dual match, taking down Freddy Walsh 6-2, 6-1 on court six for a 5-0 advantage.
Boise State earned its only point at No. 5, where Nathan Sereke outlasted Greg Hirshman 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (8).
Denis Lin's 6-7 (4), 6-4, 1-0 (7) triumph on court four wrapped up the match.
Stanford is back in action on Monday, April 18, against San Francisco at 3:30 p.m.
