STANFORD, Calif.- No. 9 Stanford posted its fourth straight victory on Wednesday afternoon, downing No. 29 San Diego 5-2 at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
Taking a brief step out of conference play, Stanford (12-5, 2-1 Pac-10) swept the doubles point and picked up five singles wins en route to the victory.
San Diego (15-5) lost for only the second time in 14 matches.
After locking up the doubles point, Stanford reeled off four straight singles victories to secure the match. The clincher came from Matt Kandath on court six, in the form of a 7-6, 6-3 triumph.
Greg Hirshman posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 5, improving to a team-best 14-2 in duals while winning his fifth straight match.
Stanford hits the road this week for matches at Washington (Apr. 8) and Oregon (Apr. 9).
