STANFORD, Calif.-- The pairings for the 2011 NCAA Tournament were announced and Stanford (32-20) will head to the Fullerton Regional to take on top-seeded CS Fullerton (40-15), third-seeded Kansas State (36-23) and fourth-seeded Illinois (28-25).

Stanford and Kansas State will open up the double elimination four-team regional on Friday The first day's games are at 4 and 8 p.m. each day with Monday's if game starting at 8 p.m. All games will be televised by ESPNU and online at espn3.com.

This is the 30th time Stanford has made an NCAA Regional and second-straight year it has been sent to Fullerton. It went 0-2 last year. The Cardinal, with upwards of eight underclassmen starters, have won 11 of 15 heading into NCAA play. Stanford has played in 16 College World Series.
Stanford finished in fifth place in the Pac-10 and are one of six Pac-10 schools to head to post-season play. Arizona State, Oregon State and UCLA are all hosting regionals, Cal is headed to national eight-seed Rice, Arizona is headed to Texas A&M. West Coast Champion, San Francisco, one of three Bay Area programs in the NCAA's, is headed to UCLA.
Kansas State has been to the last two NCAA Regionals and are making its third-straight appearance overall. Brad Hill is in his eighth season at the helm and entered the 2011 season with the seventh-best active winning percentage (.714) in 16 years as a head coach. KSU has won eight of its last 11. KSU finished sixth in the Big 12.
Illinois is making its ninth NCAA appearance and first since 2000.after winning the Big Ten tournament after tying for the conference title. Dan Harleb is in his fifth season as head coach, guiding the Fighting Illini to the Big Ten tournament in each of his five seasons.
The Big West champion Titans are making its 33rd NCAA appearances and are in the post season for the 20th-straight time. Dave Serrano is in his fifth season, having coached the Titans to Big West titles in four seasons. Since 2005, he has coached UC Irvine (2007) and CS Fullerton (2009) to College World Series.
