Day 1 Decathlon Results
Tucson, Ariz. - The Pac-10 Multis are underway with Stanford's Karynn Dunn sixth in the heptathlon, while Corey Dysick is 14th in the decathlon. Both athletes will attempt to move up on day two as the top eight will score points at the Pac-10 Championships.
Dunn is competing in the heptathlon for the first time this season and fared well on day one with a score of 3114 points through four events. She was particulary strong in the 100-meter hurdles, where her time of 14.20 was a career best and the fifth-fastest time of the day.
Dunn also scored well in the 200 meters, running a time of 25.07, while her high jump of 5-3 was also a career best. She will finish up on Saturday with three more events, including the high jump, which is by far her best event. Dunn was the U.S. Junior Champion in the long jump last summer and could make up big points in that event.
Dysick sits in 14th after day one, but also has his best event still to come. Normally a pole vaulter, Dysick will get to compete in that event first on Saturday. On day one, Dysick scored the most points in the 100 meters where his time of 11.37 scored 780 points.
The duo will finish up the Pac-10 Multis on Saturday with events beginning at 4 p.m. The top eight finishers will score towards next weekends Pac-10 Championships.
