Oct. 7, 2011

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif.- Stanford's three singles competitors all suffered first-round losses on Thursday afternoon in the opening round of the main draw at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships.

Mallory Burdette dropped a 6-3, 6-4 decision to Alabama's Mary Anne Macfarlane while Stacey Tan and Nicole Gibbs were unable to prevail in three sets despite winning the first frame.

All three players were slated to play consolation matches, but those were not completed Thursday.

In doubles, Burdette and Gibbs advanced with a 9-7 win over Baylor's Jana Novakova and Nina Secerbegovic in the first round.
