FLUSHING, N.Y.- Mallory Burdette and Nicole Gibbs moved on in singles and doubles on Thursday afternoon at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships.
The No. 1 doubles team in the draw, Burdette and Gibbs notched a 9-7 victory over Alabama's Alexa Guarachi and Mary Anne Macfarlane following a first-round bye.
Burdette and Gibbs will take on Tennessee's Natalie Pluskota and Kata Szekely on Friday morning.
In singles play, the fourth-seeded Burdette coasted past Ana Veselinovic of Auburn 6-2, 6-2 while the second-seeded Gibbs edged Vanderbilt's Jackie Wu 6-4, 6-3.
On Friday, Burdette will face Mississippi's Kristi Boxx and Gibbs will play USC's Danielle Lao.
