Stanford Rolls Past Ryerson 100-47 In Exhibition

STANFORD, Calif.- Dwight Powell poured in a game-high 16 points to lead four players in double figures as Stanford cruised to a 100-47 victory over Ryerson University in an exhibition game at Maples Pavilion on Saturday night.

Anthony Brown and Stefan Nastic both added 11 points while Josh Owens chipped in with 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Stanford shot 58.0 percent overall, making 40-69 from the field in a balanced offensive attack that saw 14 different players break into the scoring column. Meanwhile, the Cardinal limited Ryerson to 32.6 percent shooting from the field and forced the Rams into 22 turnovers.

Powell added seven rebounds for Stanford, which finished with a commanding 46-24 edge on the glass.

Both teams attempted 28 free throws, with Stanford making 18 and Ryerson connecting on 13.

The Cardinal coasted to a 52-25 halftime lead, taking its first double-digit lead at 18-7 with 12:10 remaining following an inside bucket from John Gage.

Stanford led by as many as 29 points in the opening period, hitting that mark for the first time following a dunk from Josh Huestis to make it 46-17 at the 3:47 mark.

The lead swelled to 50 with 6:16 left to play, as Jack Trotter converted on a dunk following a nice feed from Owens.

A turnaround jumper from Huestis with four seconds left allowed Stanford to reach the century mark.

Huestis finished with nine points, Gabriel Harris added eight and Chasson Randle contributed seven points and three assists.

Ola Adegboruwa led Ryerson with 13 points.

Statistics from the exhibition game do not count toward regular-season totals.

Stanford opens the season on Friday, Nov. 11, at home against Central Arkansas at 7 p.m.
