NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- Stanford graduate Cassidy Krug is in fourth place heading into Wednesday's semifinals and finals after scoring 336.45 in the quarterfinals of the Winter National 3-meter.
Christina Loukas leads the field with 356.25 points, while the next three divers are within five points of one another. Kelci Bryant is second with 341.40 points, followed by Kassidy Cook (337.75) and Krug. The top two secure a spot at the World Cup in London in late February.
Current Texas senior Kelly Markle, a future Stanford diver, finished in 33rd place with 212.25 points.
Krug had her best mark on her third dive, a back 2 ½ somersault where she had 8.0's or above from six of the seven judges for 73.50 points. She also secured 72.00 points with 8.0's on an inward 2 ½ somersault to lead off her quarterfinal round.
Markle's first dive, a 2 ½ somersault scored 7.0's or above from five judges for 50.40 points.
Earlier in the week Kristian Ipsen and his partner Troy Dumais won the 3-meter synchro title and was second in the 3-meter men's springboard to secure two places at the World Cup. Stanford has five affiliated divers at this week's Winter Nationals.
