STANFORD, Calif.-- Stanford sophomores Felicia Lee, Maya DiRado and Andie Taylor each won individual events to lead the No. 6-ranked Cardinal (5-1) over No. 24-ranked Arizona State (5-2) 132.5-97.5 on Friday afternoon.
In what began a streak of six-straight wins for the Cardinal, Lee won the 200 free, followed by Sam Woodward (50 free), DiRado (400 IM), Taylor (200 fly) and freshmen Maddy Schaefer (100 free) and Annemarie Thayer (200 back).
ASU's Tristin Baxter would sandwich the Cardinal's wins with a victory in the 1000 free and later, a win in the 500 free, but at that point the meet was well in the Cardinal's hands.
Stanford piled up points with top-three finishes in each of those six events; with Lee (1:47.79) and Schaefer (1:48.69) finishing 1-2 in the 200 free, Woodward (22.91) leading a 1-2-3 sweep in the 50 free, and DiRado (4:13.09) holding off Taylor and Thayer for the 400 IM title. The Cardinal would also finish with the top two times in the 200 fly with Taylor (2:00.53), the 100 free with Schaefer (49.70) and 200 back with Thayer (1:58.88).
Baxter was one of two Sun Devils to sweep their events.
ASU's Elina Eggers swept the diving competition, winning the 1-meter with a score of 311.18 over Stanford's Stephanie Phipps (301.35) and against in the 3-meter with a score of 339.90 over Phipps (304.05). Cardinal freshman Sloane Brazina was third in both events. ASU's Tristin Baxter also swept the 1000 free and 500 free events.
Stanford and Arizona due battle in a dual meet on Saturday with the men's teams starting at 11 a.m.
