TULSA, Okla.- No. 6 Stanford captured the doubles point and posted four singles victories en route to a 5-2 win over No. 20 North Carolina on Saturday afternoon in a neutral site contest played in Tulsa, Okla.
One day after edging No. 23 Tulsa 4-3 in its season opener, Stanford knocked off its second top-25 opponent to improve to 2-0.
The No. 1 doubles team of Ryan Thacher and John Morrissey clinched the doubles point with an 8-6 triumph after the other two matches had split.
Robert Stineman provided the clincher in singles, powering past Oystein Steiro 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 5 position.
Also collecting singles wins for Stanford were Thacher, Matt Kandath and Daniel Ho.
